Everything that happens after the tap.

Anyone can sell you a card with a chip in it. The question is what happens in the ten seconds after someone taps or scans it — whether their details come back to you, whether you can tell which card did it, and whether any of that costs you a subscription. Here, it does not.

    The honest comparison

Nobody makes you subscribe to get the lead back.

Or rather: almost everybody does. The thing that makes a card earn its keep is the other person’s details coming back to you — and on most of this market that sits behind a paid tier, often one with a five-seat minimum a sole trader cannot buy.

Read that table honestly and one rival comes out close: Dot also gives lead capture away, and we would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise. Where it costs you is the moment you want your own contacts out — $15 a month there against £3.99 here — and it ships from the States.

The two biggest free tiers in the category, Blinq and HiHello, both put lead capture in a Business plan with a five-seat minimum. If you are one electrician, that is not an upgrade you are allowed to buy.

And subscriptions drift. Blinq’s Premium tier went from about $2.99 a month to $7.33 between the start of August and today. Ours is the part you can simply never buy.

Every figure checked against each company’s own live pricing page on 18 August 2026. Prices move — if you find one that has, tell us and we will fix it.

    The bit that ages well

The card never changes. Where it points does.

This is the difference between a card you own and a card you are stuck with, and it is worth understanding before you buy anybody’s.

    A cheap NFC card

The web address is written onto the chip itself. That is why it is cheap, and it works fine — right up until something changes.

    • New number? The card still points at the old page.
    • To fix it you need every card physically back in your hand.
    • Some sellers say “reprogrammable” — that means you re-encode each one yourself with a phone app.
    • Lost one? It carries on working for whoever picked it up.

    One of ours

The chip carries a permanent code, and we decide what that code opens. The card is a key; the lock is ours to change.

    • New number, new role, new company — change it once, in a browser.
    • Every card you have ever handed out follows, including the ones you will never see again.
    • Point a card at a different profile entirely, whenever you like.
    • Lost one? Switch it off from your dashboard and it stops opening anything.

Which is why we can sell you a card and then never charge you again: the thing that keeps it working is not a subscription, it is that the destination was never on the chip.

    Who it’s for

Built for people who get phoned, not networked.

Most digital business cards are built for conference badges and sales teams. Useful, if that is your week. It is not most people’s week.

Ours is built for the electrician who gets rung at half seven, the marina office that takes berth-holder calls all summer, the mobile hairdresser whose whole diary is rebookings, the sole trader who quotes on a driveway. You are not collecting business cards at an expo. You are handing your number to someone standing in front of you and hoping they still have it in March.

That is the job: make the number impossible to lose, make it easy for them to send theirs back, and make sure that when the number changes, nobody has to be told.

Contact-back turns a one-way handover into a two-way exchange. No app, no account, nothing for the other person to install.

    Contact-back

Anyone viewing your card can send their name and number straight back — no app, no account, typed on the phone already in their hand.

Tagged to the card that made it

Every connection records which card and which profile produced it, so you can see what is actually working.

    Straight to your dashboard

Card analytics sits alongside connections — taps and views per card, next to the leads each card produced.

See what each card actually does

Analytics on every card, plus the toolkit and referral extras that come with it.

    Card analytics

Views, taps and connections per card with a 30-day activity view. See which card in the wild actually gets used. Included free.

    The Toolkit

Email signature, video-call background and Google Wallet pass — all generated from your live card in one place.

    Refer & earn

When someone you refer places their first paid order, you get a free month of Pro. Your card refers for you too — anyone who taps it and later buys earns you the month.

    06 — Teams & companies

Design one company card. Every hire inherits it.

Set your brand once and everyone you bring on gets a card built from it — you never chase anyone to match the template.

    One company template

Design the company card once in the Card Studio and save it as your template. New joiners start from it automatically, colours and logo already in place.

    Brand-locked

Lock your logo and colours so teammates only edit their own name, role and contact details. The brand stays consistent across the whole crew.

    Invite the team

Invite by email or share a join link, order a branded card straight from the roster, or bulk-invite a whole list at once. Each card links up the moment they set it up.

    Re-brand everyone at once

Change the company colours or logo and every teammate on the company brand updates automatically. Anyone who has left keeps their card as a personal one.

A card for the company itself

Create a company card — your logo, brand and company details on its own tap link and QR, separate from anyone's personal card.

    Activity & control

A running log of invites, joins, removals and brand changes. Export your team list any time, or remove the organisation entirely — everyone keeps their own card.

    07 — Beyond your card

The same tap, put to work elsewhere

Universal Contacts also powers other tap-to-act tools for your business.

    Google review cards

A tap-for-a-review NFC card that sends customers straight to your Google review page. Turn every happy customer into a rating — see our review cards for cafes, salons and trades.

    Scan a stack of cards

Back from an event with a pile of paper cards? Scan them straight into your Connections in one go. Rolling out soon.
